Job Description

To perform and deliver various Compliance Governance and Risk Management processes and activities ensuring that the bank identifies and adheres to regulatory requirements and internal Compliance policies, thereby promoting compliance within the organisation in line with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and the Compliance Governance standard.

Governance:

• Collate all reporting packs for Compliance across the various units for timely submission to relevant governance bodies. Draft compliance reports as required by various governance structures, committees and regulations, particularly regarding the compliance performance of the Client Segment, Function or country.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on the organisation through regulatory scans, gap assessments and timely reporting / awareness communications to ensure embedment of controls required to comply with new obligations
• Update the bank’s compliance policies, frameworks, and standards to ensure alignment to current regulatory obligations and implement necessary controls to ensure compliance and accordingly maintain an updated compliance policy register.
• Provide support to continuously review and update mandatory compliance training material to ensure that it is appropriate for the needs of the Bank therefore providing sufficient understanding and awareness of compliance requirements within the relevant area of operations and deliver bespoke face-to-face training where required.
• Proactively identify new and emerging compliance risks and ensure design of effective controls to ensure compliance. Support the management and co-ordination of compliance-related information requests from group stakeholders and assurance providers.

Regulatory Affairs:

• Support the development and maintenance of the annual Regulatory Engagement Plan including maintaining up-to-date Briefing Notes and minutes of meetings and tracking any commitments arising from these engagements.
• Manage all correspondences to and from the regulator including but not limited to maintaining an up-to-date regulatory communications tracker and following up on deadlines to ensure timely responses to regulators.
• Maintain and update the Regulatory Obligations Tracker and the Regulatory Tracker Application and conduct spot checks to ensure that the responsible persons make timely submissions.
• Initiate gap analyses and impact assessments for new or amended laws and compliance related policies to ensure the right obligations have been identified, and the right controls have been designed and embedded for all gaps identified.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 to 4 years’ proven experience in a compliance, legal, or corporate governance role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements applicable to the banking industry, including awareness of emerging regulatory developments and their implications for the Bank.
• Sound understanding of banking products, services, and operational activities.
• Proven ability to engage and build effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
• Strong report-writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
