Job Summary: SimplePay Capital Uganda Limited is seeking experienced, results-driven, and ethical professionals to join our Debt Recovery Team as Internal Debt Collectors. The successful candidates will be responsible for engaging clients with overdue loan accounts, negotiating structured repayment plans, and ensuring timely loan recoveries to safeguard the company’s loan portfolio and strengthen financial performance across our branches in Uganda.
Remuneration: Attractive retainer package with performance-based incentives, subject to company policy and agreed terms.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proactively engage clients with overdue accounts through telephone calls, SMS, digital communication platforms, and field visits where necessary.
- Follow up on outstanding loan repayments and ensure timely recovery of overdue amounts.
- Negotiate realistic and structured repayment arrangements in line with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, repayment commitments, follow-ups, and recovery outcomes.
- Monitor assigned accounts and identify high-risk cases requiring escalation.
- Collaborate with Branch Managers, Operations, and Legal teams to improve recovery performance.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly debt recovery reports, highlighting achievements, outstanding balances, and unresolved cases.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards throughout all client engagements.
- Comply with applicable data protection requirements and the company’s debt recovery procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in debt collection, loan recovery, or collections is mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate practical experience following up on overdue accounts and recovering outstanding payments.
- Strong communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to engage clients firmly, respectfully, and professionally while securing repayment commitments.
- Resilience, patience, and the ability to handle difficult client conversations.
- A target-driven mindset with a demonstrated ability to meet recovery targets and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CRM systems, and digital communication tools.
- High levels of integrity, accountability, discipline, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a performance-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of relevant experience in debt collection, loan recovery, microfinance collections, or a closely related role.
- A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of local languages is an advantage for regional assignments.
