Job Summary: The Program Director position will require an individual who is Flexible, open-minded, and receptive to new ideas, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, embrace new approaches, and work effectively in a dynamic organizational environment. S/he will provide strategic leadership, oversight and direction for the Lifeline’s programs and projects. The Program Director will ensure that Lifeline’s programs and projects are effectively designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated in line with the organization’s strategic objectives, donor requirements, relevant laws and organizational policies.
The position is responsible for ensuring high-quality program delivery, effective use of resources, strong partnerships, accountability to communities and stakeholders, and achievement of measurable results and sustainable impact.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee the day-to-day design, implementation, an evaluation of all active programs.
- Ensure programs adhere to partnership agreements, donor guidelines, and strategic objectives, frameworks and annual plans.
- Conduct extensive reviews/edits on all program reports, briefs, and presentations, ensuring quality and correctness before dissemination or their usage
- Ensure communities and other stakeholders have appropriate opportunities to provide feedback on programs
- Support the COO in developing and managing relationships with donors and or other potential donors
- Contribute to grant writing, proposal development, and the preparation of high-quality donor reports.
- Strengthen Lifeline’s relationships with relevant line Ministries, donors, and partners, through regular meetings, consultations, and updates on Lifeline’s programs.
- Ensure appropriate financial forecasting and timely identification of budget variances and monitor program expenditure against approved budgets and workplans
- In cooperation with the logistics department and technical Staff, responsible for all procurement (planning, purchase, timely delivery etc.) in strict adherence with Lifeline’s procurement and logistics policies.
- Identify staff capacity-building needs and support appropriate training and professional development.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Administration, Project Management or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field is highly desirable.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in program/project management within the NGO, humanitarian or development sector.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, teams and donor-funded programs.
- Experience in proposal development, resource mobilization and donor engagement.
- Experience in program monitoring, evaluation and learning.
- Strong knowledge of NGO program management standards and practices in Uganda.
- Demonstrated experience working with government, donors, implementing partners and community stakeholders.
